Roadway Reconstruction has Started

This past week the contractor completed the underground utility improvements along the project site. The work included making the connections between the existing and new water mains along Neva Avenue at Harrison Street and Colfax Avenue, removing and abandoning the existing fire hydrants, water valves, storm sewers, storm manholes, and other miscellaneous tasks. The contractor also started removing the driveways, sidewalk, and remaining concrete pavement along Nora Avenue south of Colfax Avenue.
The roadway reconstruction process will continue throughout next week and the next several weeks. The contractor anticipates to perform the work in the following order: Nora Avenue south of Colfax Avenue, Neva Avenue south of Colfax Avenue, Nora Avenue north of Colfax Avenue, and Neva Avenue north of Colfax Avenue. The work will consist of the contractor removing the existing driveways, sidewalks scheduled to be replaced, remaining concrete pavement, and materials below the concrete pavement. The contractor will perform sub-grade repairs as needed and install new aggregate base course prior to the new concrete curb & gutter and asphalt pavement being installed.
Next week the contractor anticipates to complete the roadway excavation process along Nora Avenue south of Colfax Avenue and begin concrete curb & gutter, driveway, and sidewalk replacement. The contractor will also begin roadway excavation along Neva Avenue south of Colfax Avenue.
We ask for your cooperation in following the directions detailed in previous mailings regarding access to your driveways and homes during the roadway reconstruction process.

Roadway Reconstruction to Begin Next Week.

This past week the contractor completed the installation of the storm sewer, storm sewer services, and water services along Neva Avenue. All of the water services throughout the entire project have been transferred to the new water main. All the storm sewer mainline and storm sewer services are also completed throughout the entire project.
On Monday, July 15th, the contractor will be making the connections between the new and existing water mains along Neva Avenue and Harrison Street and Colfax Avenue. Due to the layout of the new and existing water mains, there will be limited disruptions to water service. Residents whose water will be shut off will be notified 24-hours in advance. During the connection to the existing water main along Colfax Avenue, a detour will be set-up around the Neva Avenue and Colfax Avenue intersection.  Traffic will be diverted to Harrison Street between Nordica Avenue and Harlem Avenue. Please utilize this detour while work is on-going. Access will be allowed to Neva Avenue south of Colfax Avenue, but might be delayed due to the construction operations.
The contractor is also anticipating to perform some miscellaneous underground utility work next week. It is anticipated that all underground utility work will be completed by the middle to end of next week.  Thank you all for your patience during this process.
The next step will be to perform the roadway reconstruction along the project. We are anticipating this work to begin mid to late next week. Residents have been notified regarding the construction process and directions for parking and driveway usage during the construction operations. The contractor will begin on Nora Avenue, south of Colfax Avenue. Once completed there, the contractor will move to Neva Avenue, south of Colfax.  Once the work south of Colfax is completed, the work north of Colfax Avenue will begin.
We ask for your cooperation in following the directions regarding access to your driveways and homes during the roadway reconstruction process.

Thanks for your patience during the construction process.

Storm Sewer Nearing Completion on Neva Avenue

This past week the contractor continued to install storm sewer mainline, storm sewer services, and water services along Neva Avenue north of Colfax Avenue. The contractor also completed installing the internal epoxy liner within the sanitary sewer manholes located in the rear easements.
This week the contractor will likely complete the installation of storm sewer mainline, storm sewer services, and water services along Neva Avenue north of Colfax Avenue. The contractor will then work on the water main connections between the new and existing systems. The underground work should be completed within the next two weeks. Following the underground utility construction, the contractor will begin the roadway reconstruction process.
The connections to the existing water main will require the water to be shut-down for a period of time while the work is being completed. Residents will be notified 24-hours in advance of any scheduled water shut-down.

During water service installation and connection to the existing service, water to individual homes will be shut off for a short period of time. The contractor will knock on the door of any home that will not have water prior to turning it off.

Thank you for your patience during the construction operations.

Emergency Water Main Shut-Down on Neva

On Wednesday, July 3rd at 8:40 AM the existing water main was hit during the construction operations. The existing water main on Neva Avenue between Colfax and Harrison needed to shut-down to make the needed repairs.

The repair was made and all effected residents had water service by 10:00 AM.

We apologize for any inconvenience this caused.

In early posts, it was stated the contractor would be working on-site Friday, July 5th. We learned earlier today that the contractor has decided not to work on Friday, July 5th.

Have a Happy 4th of July Weekend!!
