Project Complete

This past week the pavement marking sub-contractor performed the pavement markings along Colfax Avenue. DiMeo Brothers have also been on-site completing some of the minor repairs indicated on the punch list.

Next week, the landscape sub-contractor is scheduled to be on-site to complete the landscape restorations along Colfax Avenue.  The general contractor is anticipating all punch list items will be completed next week.
The major construction items along the entire project site are completed with only a few minor items remaining. This will be the last blog post for this project. We hope you enjoyed reading the blogs and found the information useful and informative.

We would like to express our gratitude one last time for all of your patience dealing with the inconveniences of construction along your streets and within your neighborhood.
In the next few weeks, a survey regarding the construction project will be mailed to you. We would appreciate a few minutes of your time to complete and return the survey. The surveys are very helpful in determining what aspects went well and what portions of construction process we need to improve.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact Scott Huebner, Village Project Manager, at 847-904-4420.

Asphalt Surface Paving to be Completed

This past week the paving sub-contractor, Peter Baker & Sons, performed the pavement milling of Colfax Avenue from Waukegan Road to Harlem Avenue. The paving contractor also swept the existing asphalt surfaces and installed the asphalt prime or tack coat on all the roadways in preparation for asphalt surface paving. DiMeo Brothers was on-site during the week performing some miscellaneous repair work identified during the final walk-through.

Asphalt surface paving of Nora Avenue, Neva Avenue, and Colfax Avenue is scheduled to begin on Saturday, October 19th, depending on weather conditions. Parking will not be allowed on any of the roadways scheduled to be paved on the day of paving. Traffic along Colfax Avenue will be allowed, but will be congested during the paving operations and we suggest alternates are utilized. Access to homes south of Colfax Avenue from Waukegan Road to Harlem Avenue will be maintained throughout the process. We ask for your cooperation during the paving process and request you minimize, to the greatest extent possible, the number of trips within the construction area.
Additional information regarding parking restrictions and access will be provided to residents in the area.

The landscape sub-contractor is also scheduled to be on-site next week to complete the remaining sod restoration along Colfax Avenue.

The pavement markings alolng Colfax Avenue are also scheduled to be compelted next week.
The long construction season you have all endured is nearing its completion with the paving of the asphalt surface. We request your cooperation during these final stages of construction.

Asphalt Milling to be Performed this Week

This past week the contractor performed roadway excavation, aggregate base installation, and asphalt binder paving along Colfax Avenue within the Nora Avenue and Neva Avenue intersections. The contractor also performed some miscellaneous repairs and site clean-up. The Village staff also performed a final walk-through of the project to identify any additional repairs that need to be made prior project completion.

Next Tuesday, October 15th, the paving sub-contractor is scheduled to mill the existing pavement surface along Colfax Avenue from Waukegan Road to Harlem Avenue. The landscaping sub-contractor is also anticipated to be in next week to perform the remaining sod restorations along Colfax Avenue.
The asphalt surface paving along all roadways is scheduled to be performed the week of October 21st.

During milling and paving operations, we ask for your cooperation in not parking on the street and minimizing the amount of travel in the area.
We continue to express our gratitude during the on-going construction. The completion of the asphalt surface paving in the next few weeks will mark a significant milestone in the overall completion of the project.

Traffic Calming Islands Installed

This past week the contractor installed the concrete traffic calming medians and sidewalk ramps at the intersections of Nora Avenue and Nottingham Avenue.

Next week, the contractor is anticipated to complete the roadway excavation and asphalt binder layer at the intersections of Colfax Avenue at Nora Avenue and Neva Avenue.
Following the asphalt binder at Nora Avenue and Neva Avenue, the contractor will mill the existing asphalt surface along Colfax Avenue from Waukegan Road to Harlem Road. The final asphalt surface layer along Colfax Avenue, Nora Avenue, and Neva Avenue will be installed at the same time once all other work is completed.
